GardePro M21 Thermal Monocular FAQ
Author: Zhong
1. What’s the difference between thermal imaging and night vision?
- Thermal imaging does not need any light. It detects heat from people, animals, or objects and creates an image, even in complete darkness. It can also see through smoke and light fog.
- Night vision needs some light (moon, stars, or built-in IR light). It cannot see well in total darkness or through heavy fog.
2. What’s the difference between detection range and recognition range?
- Detection range = the farthest distance you can tell “something is there.”
- Recognition range = the farthest distance you can tell “what it is” (person, animal, or vehicle).
3. What determines how far I can see with the M21?
- Mainly the lens focal length. A longer lens means a longer viewing range. The M21’s 15mm lens provides a solid balance between wide view and long detection range.
4. Can a thermal monocular see through walls, glass, or fog?
- Fog/smoke: Yes, thermal works well because heat passes through.
- Walls/glass: No, solid objects block infrared heat.
5. Is the M21 only for night use? Can I use it during the day?
- You can use it both day and night. For daytime, switch to White Hot or Black Hot modes for better contrast in sunlight.
6. How do I transfer photos and videos?
- Connect your phone to the M21’s Wi-Fi hotspot and open the GardePro Thermal App. From there, you can view, download, or delete files stored in the device’s internal memory. You can also use a USB-C cable to transfer files directly to your PC.
7. How long does the battery last?
- A full charge gives you over 8 hours of use (with AI and Wi-Fi turned off, at 25°C/77°F).
8. What color modes are available?
- White Hot / Black Hot: Best for spotting heat quickly.
- Red Hot, Green Hot, Iron Red: Add more contrast, making it easier to separate objects from the background in complex environments.
9. What scene modes are available?
- Outline Mode: Shows the shape and edges of the target.
- Birdwatching Mode: Makes it easier to locate birds.
- Forest / Rainforest / City Modes: Adjusts the image for different environments.
- Normal Mode: General use in most conditions.
10. Is the M21 waterproof?
- Yes, it is rated IP66, meaning it’s dustproof and rainproof.
11. How much storage does it have?
- The M21 comes with 32GB built-in storage (around 23.9GB available). That’s enough for thousands of photos or hours of video.
12. How heavy is the device?
- It weighs only 287g, light enough to carry all day without fatigue.
13. Can I mount it on a tripod?
- Yes, the M21 has a standard tripod mount, perfect for steady observation.
14. Does it make noise when in use?
- No, the M21 operates silently, making it ideal for wildlife observation and hunting.
